META-FORUM 2010 - Challenges for Multilingual Europe - Hotel Le Plaza, Brussels, Belgium

The network of excellence META-NET, devoted to foster the technological foundations of the society of information, aims at building a new European multilingual Allianz to join researchers, commercial technology suppliers, private and corporative users of language technologies and other investors in the information society.

To do so, a series of lectures under the title “Challenges for Multilingual Europe” have been organized.

The goal of these lectures is to create a meeting point at the European capital, Brussels, to discuss and discover the new projects and new business and research opportunities within the field of language technologies.

Inbenta will take an active part in the different sessions organized during this symposium:

Firstly, on Wednesday, 17th November 2010, in the session “Language Technology in Europe”,Inbenta will show its several types of information management solutions based upon the automatic treatment of Natural Language, with special emphasis on Inbenta’s semantic search engine and their opinion mining system.

And on Thursday 18th novembre 2010, Inbenta will participate in one of the roundtable discussions: "Language Technology Companies and their Expectations towards Research Organisations and Funding Agencies". Inbenta will put forward, on the one hand, the present problems in the systems of automatic treatment of natural language and, on the other hand, will present the needs and next projects of Inbenta’s R+D group for the technological development of new linguistic applications.

Finally, Inbenta will attend lectures of prominent researchers and scientists of the field that will take place during the symposium:

  • Bill Dolan (Microsoft Research, USA): "Building Partnerships with Language Communities: The Importance of Shared Technology and Shared Data"
  • Jan Hajic (Charles University Prague, Czech Republic): "Building Bridges using Innovative Approaches in Machine Translation"

In participating in these lectures, Inbenta joins the ambitious group effort to turn language technologies into the way to reach a vision of Europe as a single digital market and a single information space.
